Finally, I am accepted!

I have exciting news to tell everyone that comes to my blog! Its been awhile, I understand and I apologize but you all will be very happy to hear my news. Today,… (get the drum roll ready) in the year of 1633 I had been finally accepted as the very first woman to become a member of Haarlem Guild of St. Luke! This is such exciting news I just couldn't wait to write this all in my blog. OH BOYY, today has been such a busy day. I feel really honored, this might the be turn around for me, I might become more famous now. However, I felt kind of bad.. there are so many talented artists here, but sadly they didn't meet the standards to attend a professional and run a workshop. In addition, there I had such many great experiences and had started to show others my work more. Below this blog entry you will be able to see one of my art works that I have worked on for very long. Please I enjoy comments! I do not know YET, of what to except because I haven’t been here for very long, but please do expect great work, I’ve been working since 1625, and probably will stop working in about two years. After all, this is something I am not going to do for the rest of my self. It is just a hobby right now. Well, I’ll try my best to update everyone as soon as possible with more paintings! As of now,
With much love,
Judith Leyster

  1. ¡Hola! I am Sor Juana Inés of New Spain and a famous poet in Spanish-speaking countries. Congratulations on your acceptance to the Haarlem Guild of St. Luke! It must have taken you a lot of hard work to gain such an honor. I believe our different artistic expressions can show men that we can achieve anything they do. Good luck and may God bless you.

  2. Greetings! I enjoyed looking at your beautiful paintings. They are truly a work of art. I would like to congratulate you on being the first woman to become a member of the Harlem Guild of St. Luke. I understand that other very talented painters were not able to enter the guild. I feels very sorry to them, however although they were not able to enter the guild, I wish you the best of luck in becoming famous one day.
